Telenor sells 30% of its fiber business in Norway to a consortium led by KKR for 1,000 million

MADRID, 7 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Scandinavian telecommunications operator Telenor has reached an agreement to sell 30% of its fiber business in Norway, Telenor Fiber, to a consortium led by KKR and in which Oslo Pensjonsforsikring also participates, in exchange for around 10.8 billion crowns Norway (1,034 million euros).

The agreed sale price values Telenor's entire fiber business in Norway at 36,100 million Norwegian crowns (3,456 million euros), according to the operator, who will retain ownership of 70% of the company. The transaction is expected to be completed in early 2023.

"This transaction highlights the value of our infrastructure and unlocks capital to support the continued deployment of fiber in Norway," said Tone Hegland Bachke, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Telenor, adding that the company will propose that part of the proceeds be used to the repurchase of shares.

"KKR has significant experience in investing in telecommunications infrastructure, and we look forward to supporting Telenor with its fiber strategy in Norway," said Julian Barratt-Due, director of European infrastructure for KKR.
