Switzerland adheres to the latest package of EU sanctions against Russia and adds thirty people to its list

MADRID, 12 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Swiss authorities have confirmed this Wednesday that the country has adhered to the latest package of sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia for the invasion of Ukraine and has added another thirty individuals and entities to its list.

The Government has thus indicated that another thirty people are now subject to financial restrictions and travel bans and has pointed out that these individuals are mainly linked to the annexation referendums organized in the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia.

In addition, another seven entities have been included in the Swiss sanctioned list, as the Government has initiated in a statement. The assets in Switzerland of all those sanctioned have now been frozen.

On the other hand, the new decree indicates that restrictions that already applied to some areas of Donetsk and Lugansk will now apply to areas of Jerson and Zaporiyia that are not under Russian control and have been "illegally annexed to Russia".

These new sanctions will come into force at 6:00 p.m. (local time) this Wednesday, according to the text.
