Spending on unemployment benefits is reduced to 20,901 million in 2023

MADRID, 6 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government will allocate a total of 20,901 million euros to the payment of unemployment benefits in 2023, which represents a decrease of almost 1,200 million compared to the 2022 budget, as stated in the General State Budget Bill (PGE ) by 2023.

The unemployment policy will reach a total of 21,278 million euros (-5.3% compared to 2022), of which 20,901 million will be dedicated to the payment of benefits and the rest to operating expenses.

The Executive justifies the cut in the provision for unemployment benefits in the economic and employment evolution and in the effects of the labor reform.

With these credits, contributory unemployment benefits will be met, whose expenditure for 2023 is estimated at 13,006 million euros; unemployment benefits (6,632 million euros); the subsidy of the Special Agrarian System of the Social Security (564 million euros); and the Active Insertion Income (RAI), endowed with 700 million euros.

The Public State Employment Service (SEPE) will have a budget of 28,278 million euros in 2023, 2.9% less than in 2022. The Recovery Plan will contribute 508 million euros to the body for the implementation of measures aimed to reform and promote active employment policies.
