The Social Security allocated in the current month of July the record figure of 10,845.9 million euros to the payment of contributory pensions, 4.6% more than in the same month of 2021, as reported on Tuesday by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migrations.

The Department headed by José Luis Escrivá estimates that pension spending stood at 11.8% of GDP in the seventh month of the year, a lower percentage than in 2020 (12.4% of GDP), a year conditioned by the impact of the pandemic on GDP, and also lower than that of 2021 (12.1% of GDP).

72.4% of the pension payroll, 7,848.3 million euros, are used to pay retirement pensions.

1,832.7 million euros are devoted to widowhood pensions, while the payroll for permanent disability benefits, for its part, stands at 986 million euros; that of orphans supposes 150.5 million euros and the benefits in favor of relatives, 28.4 million.

Of the 9,946,399 contributory pensions paid, 0.8% more than in the same month of 2021, 6,253,855 are for retirement, 2,352,401 for widows, 952,409 for permanent disability, 343,264 for orphans and 44,470 for relatives .

If the number of pensioners is taken into account, this rises to just over nine million people. By sex, there are a total of 4.6 million men pensioners and 4.4 million women.

Likewise, comparing the number of pensions per pensioner, the proportion is 1.1 benefits per person.

As for the main type of pension, the largest number of pensioners, 6.1 million, are for retirement and 1.6 million for widowhood; They are followed by the recipients of permanent disability (946,843), orphanhood (325,973) and favor of relatives (43,705).

Likewise, the average pension of the system amounts to 1,090.4 euros per month in July. This amount, which includes the different types of pension (retirement, permanent disability, widowhood, orphanhood and in favor of relatives), has increased by 5.5% in the last year; in homogeneous terms, 3.9%.

The average retirement pension of the system, meanwhile, stands at 1,255 euros.

By schemes, the average retirement pension from the General Scheme is 1,403.8 euros per month, while the lowest is recorded by the Self-Employed Scheme, of 835.4 euros per month.

In Coal Mining, the average monthly pension is 2,446.3 euros and it is 1,393.39 euros in the Regime of the Sea.

GENDER GAP COMPLEMENTS

As of July 1, 282,391 pensions receive the gender gap supplement, of which more than 93.3% correspond to women (263,431). The average monthly amount of this pension supplement is 61.6 euros.

Of the 282,391 supplemented pensions, 21.2% corresponds to pensioners with one child (59,871), who previously did not have access to the maternity supplement.

In addition, 47.4% of the beneficiaries have two children (133,764); 20.1%, with three (56,799) and with four children, 11.3% (31,957).

This gap supplement, in force since February 2021, consists of a fixed amount, after the revaluation applied in 2022, of 28 euros per month per child, which is applied from the first child, unlike the previous maternity supplement, and is requests at the same time as the pension.

For its part, the monthly pension payroll for Passive Classes amounted to 2,609.3 million euros in the month of June 2022, the latest data available and which includes the extraordinary payment, which represents 7.8% more than a year ago .
