About 800 members of the Portuguese Fire Department are fighting 11 active fires throughout the country this Saturday, with the participation of 259 vehicles in the extinction tasks, as reported by the National Authority for Emergencies and Civil Protection (ANEPC).

Four of the 11 outbreaks concern the firefighters, in particular the one in Baião, in Porto, against which 127 operational personnel and 45 vehicles on the ground are fighting.

The other seven fires are being controlled, in particular the Chaves fire, in Vila Real, which concentrates the largest number of resources (148 firefighters and 45 vehicles).

There are still another 30 fires that need the participation of firefighters, although they are practically extinct. 221 troops and two aircraft still participate in them.

In Faro, the situation still requires the attention of 212 operators, assisted by 78 vehicles. There are also 145 firefighters and 50 vehicles completing the extinction of the fire in Oliveira de Azeméis, according to information collected by the Portuguese newspaper 'Publico'.
