Sánchez rejects rumors about leading NATO and says he wants to continue as president of Spain for the next legislature

MADRID, 3 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, has rejected this Friday rumors about the possibility that he would choose to lead NATO and has assured that his will is to continue at the helm of the Spanish Executive after the general elections to be held in December.

Sánchez has been asked about the possibility of being the next Secretary General of the Atlantic Alliance at a press conference offered in Helsinki together with the country's Prime Minister, Sanna Marin.

"I see myself, I hope if the Spanish want, for a long time as president of the Government - he has maintained -. We are going to have elections in the month of December and that is my future and commitment to the Spanish men and women".

The current NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, plans to step down next October after having already extended his mandate as a result of the war in Ukraine.
