Sánchez asks the PP to park the partisan fight with energy saving and have "common sense and solidarity"

LA PALMA, 16 Aug. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, today appealed to the "common sense" of the PP to park the "partisan struggle" and support the energy saving measures approved by the Government. In his opinion, it is about being in solidarity with the countries that are suffering the most from Putin's energy "blackmail".

This was stated today by the Chief Executive during an appearance on his tenth visit to the island of La Palma, where he has followed up on the work being carried out to restore normality after the eruption of the volcano.

Sánchez has argued that the measures of the Government's Royal Decree are "the result of a great agreement between the Commission and all the member states to deal with energy blackmail". Spain, he has pointed out, is "a pro-European country not out of necessity but out of conviction" and has stressed that "fortunately" our country does not depend as much on Russian gas as other European economies.

But he considers that Spain should show solidarity with those countries that are suffering with "particular intensity from Putin's energy blackmail".

Having said this, he has referred to the PP although without expressly citing this party: "I would once again call for common sense, responsibility, solidarity and unity". The "solidarity with Europe", he has said, is above all with those countries that are suffering from Putin's energy blackmail.

He has also asked the PP to be responsible for "complying with the agreements" reached in Brussels. And as for the "unity" that he demands, he has argued that it must be had because "this war is a challenge for the whole of European society" whether one lives in Spain, Germany, Italy, or the Baltic Republics. or in Poland.

And he concluded by reiterating once again "a call for responsibility, solidarity and unity, putting aside the partisan struggle of a central issue for the development and cohesion of Europe".
