Sánchez announces a new package of energy measures of 3,000 million to protect 40% of homes

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, announced this Thursday a new package of measures aimed at cushioning the rise in electricity and gas, for which the Government will mobilize an additional total of 3,000 million from the General State Budget.

Sánchez has advanced in his appearance this Wednesday in the Congress of Deputies that in the next Council of Ministers will approve a new decree with which it is intended to protect 40% of the country's households.

The measures will include the reinforcement of the electricity social bond, benefiting 1.3 million households, a 15% increase in the amount of energy entitled to a discount or the temporary creation of a new category of electricity consumers entitled to a 40% discount on your bills for low-income households.

Regarding gas, the president has advanced some measures on the consumption of heating and hot water in homes that have community gas boilers. Specifically, the protection already granted by regulated rates will be extended to homes that are part of neighborhood communities with centralized natural gas heating, thereby creating a new regulated rate to limit the quarterly increase in prices until the end of 2023. . A total of 1.7 million households will benefit from the reduction of more than half of the receipt with this measure.
