Sémper (PP) says that the Government will rectify the law of 'only yes is yes' for a "purely electoral" interest

MADRID, 31 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesman for the Popular Party Campaign Committee, Borja Sémper, assured this Tuesday that the Government will rectify the Law for the Comprehensive Guarantee of Sexual Freedom, better known as the 'only yes is yes' law, for a "purely electoral" interest. because they respond to "tactical questions" leaving "rigor" aside.

"What we are experiencing from a political point of view seems dramatic to me, not very edifying," Sémper said in an interview on Telecinco, collected by Europa Press, in which he stressed that the Government does not have "any humility" and that the purpose of the amendment is not because of the consequences it has for women and prisoners, but because of the electoral interest.

Sémper has stressed that this can be extended "to almost all the action of the Government", at the same time that he has lamented that the policy is established in the "postureo and little rigor" and that whoever does not agree with the Executive is a " macho, a facha or a radical".

The Government has guaranteed that it will rectify this Equality Law to alleviate the "unwanted effects" that have occurred since its entry into force, but they agree that consent will remain at the center and will not be touched. On this aspect, Sémper has pointed out that in Spain consent "was, is and will be a fundamental piece" in judicial proceedings and, in this case, in criminal proceedings.

"This law has not come to innovate," stressed Sémper, who believes that the problem is not in consent but in that this "hood of law puts more than 300 sexual offenders on the street or reduces sentences."

Thus, he has warned that the Government is going to "introduce other elements", while the core of the problem is that the aggressors are benefiting from a botched law. "You cannot legislate with a banner and slogan, and even less in a law like these characteristics that has these derivatives," he added immediately.
