Sicily rejects that the Andalusian elections will mean a change of cycle: "They are merely autonomous"

MADRID, 2 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokesman for the Federal Executive of the PSOE, Felipe Sicilia, has rejected this Thursday that the elections to the Presidency of the Andalusian Government will suppose a change in the electoral cycle and has assured that these elections are "merely" autonomous. Of course, he has pointed out that the only thing that has changed has been the cycles in the Popular Party.

"Some have been talking about a new electoral cycle for a long time, PP and Vox, and the only thing that has changed has been the cycles in the PP," Sicilia assured in an interview on Radio Nacional, collected by Europa Press, when asked about whether these elections are a test for the coalition government and if they go beyond regional elections.

Sicily has blamed the 'popular' for generating instability with the electoral advances in the Community of Madrid and Castilla y León. "They have certainly caused a change of cycle, but in the PP, they have even changed the leader," she pointed out.

"(The elections) are merely autonomous," assured the socialist leader, who warned that Andalusians "have a lot at stake." Along these lines, he has indicated that the PP will have the opportunity to demonstrate whether it is willing to go hand in hand with Vox or not. "They will have to clarify themselves", he has emphasized, while pointing out that the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, during the Andalusian pre-campaign spoke "clearly" that they have to ally with those of Macarena Olona.

Asked about whether they rule out agreeing with the PP to prevent Vox from entering the Junta de Andalucía and reproducing the scenario in Castilla y León, Sicilia has assured that the PSOE is going to these elections to gain the trust of the majority of Andalusians.

"The agreements that may exist once the elections are over, will have to be seen when the results are known," said the leader of the PSOE, who added in a row that there is only the option "of the PP and the extreme right" or an option "progressive of the PSOE with other forces of the left".
