Sasaki reigns in Austria in a new Moto 3 comeback for David Muñoz

MADRID, 21 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Japanese rider Ayumu Sasaki (Husqvarna) took victory in the Moto3 race of the Austrian Grand Prix, the thirteenth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, in which the young David Muñoz (KTM), starting sixteenth, managed to get on the podium repeating the feat achieved in Catalonia.

Sasaki showed a relentless pace, necessary to overcome the 'long lap penalties' that dragged from Silverstone. Thus, the Japanese, who started from second position, was like a shot to come back and take his second victory of his career. Behind him, his compatriot Tatsuki Suzuki (Honda) kept up the pace to finish second on a podium that was decided in the final corners in favor of the 16-year-old Sevillian.

Muñoz began his feat from 16th position and in three laps he was on a podium that he retained in his sixth race in Moto 3. A chaotic start in which the Turkish Deniz Öncü (KTM), Daniel Holgado's teammate, came out aggressively to overtaking him and dreaming of third position, which he finally lost after the young Spanish driver overtook him. A stellar position on his second podium after repeating a comeback, as he did at the Catalunya Grand Prix.

Holgado, on his first pole position in the small category, was unable to defend his privileged position in a start in which hostilities broke out and finished seventh, ahead of Izan Guevara (GasGas), who lost pace in the final laps and He separated five points in the fight for the World Cup, with his teammate Sergio García Dols.

In this way, the leader of the category also lost steam and dropped from the head of the race, although he took fifth position for good after Dennis Foggia (Honda) stepped back.

The Italian, after winning two weeks ago at Silverstone, accused his irregularity and did not get past 12th place, which puts him down again due to the fight with the two Spaniards. A practically impossible battle for Jaume Masià (KTM), after crashing at turn 3, the highest point of the circuit.
