Sanna Marin justifies her parties after the controversy: "I'm human"

HELSINKI, 24 Aug. (DPA/EP) -

The Prime Minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, has justified this Wednesday the celebration of parties and, after the appearance of several videos and photographs, has asked that he be judged for his work at the head of the Government and not for what he does in his life private.

"I am human and sometimes I miss the fun and the light in the midst of these dark clouds," Marin said during a meeting of the Social Democratic Party in which her colleagues reacted with a standing ovation to her sincerity.

The 36-year-old president has acknowledged that the last few days have not been easy, but has insisted that she continues to do her job "as well as ever." "I haven't missed a single day of work and I haven't left anything undone," she warned.

Marin underwent a drug test last week --which has been negative-- as a result of the dissemination of some videos in which he appeared dancing with some friends and on Monday he had to go out to meet another image captured at a party at his official residence.

The Helsinki Police has confirmed that it has received three complaints related to the videos, but that it will not open any investigation because it does not detect any indication of criminality on the part of the prime minister or those around her.
