Rubiales: "With the same tools, the women's teams achieve the maximum"

MADRID, 9 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, recognized that once they have provided the men's and women's teams with the "same tools" it is shown that women's football can achieve "the maximum", after seeing beat the women's absolute in its debut at EURO 2022 and, this Saturday, have the U-19 in the final of the Eurocup in the category.

"When men and women are given the same tools, we realize that women's teams are capable of achieving the maximum, and I am very proud to have made those decisions that, on the other hand, are fair," he assured in statements provided by the federation.

Rubiales recalled that prior to his arrival there was no such condition of equality. "When we arrived there was no equality in the male and female teams, they did not have the same 'staff' at a technical or medical level, they did not have their nutritionists and the expeditions and trips were not the same," he acknowledged.

On the other hand, they celebrated the 4-1 win over Finland in their first ever senior EURO. "I am very happy with the match, with how the team recovered, with how our team, after conceding that goal, showed their superiority with their style. With important blows, like the loss of Alexia and before Jenni and Salma. The players , the coaching staff, everyone was sensational, and we are very happy", he celebrated.

And as for the final of the U-19 EURO, this Saturday against Norway in the Czech Republic, he assured that he attends the event with enthusiasm. "This belongs to everyone, it's an achievement to be in the final and we're going to Ostrava ready to win. If not, we'll be just as proud, but no one can take away our hope," she said.

"It is a historic day, if we are able to bring the European wound it would be wonderful for the RFEF and for all of Spanish football, for the footballers, clubs and territorial federations, who work so hard," he reiterated in this regard.
