Robles visits the center of Poland from which shipments of weapons and humanitarian aid to Ukraine are distributed

The Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, visited on Monday the Polish logistics center from which all shipments of military and humanitarian material destined for Ukraine are distributed. Since the war began, the Ministry of Defense has managed more than 30 logistical transports of weapons and material to this center.

During his visit, Robles has been able to verify the operation of the logistics 'hub' and talk with the Spanish soldiers who coordinate the shipments made from Spain; she accompanied by the ambassadors of Spain in Poland and Ukraine, Ramiro Fernández and Ricardo López-Aranda.

The minister has highlighted the unity in the response to the Russian military offensive. "Ukraine has to win this unjust and cruel war and I think one of the most important things right now is our unity, how our countries are united by working together to fight Putin. Our unity is our strength," she stressed.

Upon arrival at the logistics center, Robles was received by the head of the Polish Armed Forces Support Inspection, Brigadier General Artur Kepcynski; and she has been accompanied by the Secretary General for Defense Policy, Admiral Juan Francisco Martínez Núñez.

During the visit, Robles has attended a presentation on the logistics 'hub' and has held a meeting with representatives of other nations involved. Before returning, he has met with the civilian staff of the airport.

"Spain is fully committed to Ukraine and fully committed to Poland and NATO. This is a war to defend our values, our principles and democracy", he insisted, stressing the support of Spain and its citizens to support the Ukrainian people.

Since Poland established this 'hub', the Ministry of Defense has managed more than 30 logistical transport of weapons and material to this center, which has been the entry and exit point for military flights, road convoys or multimodal transport by sea of Spanish supplies.

The airport visited this Monday has also been the point of departure for more than 600 people, including orphaned children or children undergoing cancer treatment, especially vulnerable or threatened relatives, and soldiers wounded in combat for their reception in Spain or treatment in the Hospitals of the Defense and the health network.

To support these transfers, 14 other humanitarian flights from the Ministry of Defense have been managed so far.

In addition, in the coming weeks, Spain plans to intensify these flight operations, when the Spanish contribution to the training of Ukrainian soldiers begins, organized both by bilateral agreement and by contributing to the new EUMAM mission of the European Union.
