Robles is optimistic that "soon" there will be an exit to the renewal of the CGPJ and the Constitutional

MADRID, 12 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, has been "optimistic" this Wednesday regarding the renewal of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and the Constitutional Court and hopes that it will soon be given a way out.

"On a day like today, which is the day of the national holiday, I want to be optimistic and think that the renewal of the CGPJ and the Constitutional will soon be given a way out," Robles said during an interview on the program 'Las Mañanas', from RNE, collected by Europa Press.

The minister believes that the meeting this week between the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, was "positive", since a "very serious" issue was put on the table, such as the renewal of these organs.

Asked if the Government would be willing to change the election model for the CGPJ, Robles insisted that this crisis has only one reason and "it is not a change of model": "The Constitution speaks of a five-year term and we have nine", lamented the minister.

But Robles has stressed that, after this week's meeting and on a day like today, there are reasons for "hope", insisting that in difficult times like the current ones, the efforts of "everyone" are required to reach agreements.
