Robles criticizes the "equidistance" of Lesmes and claims that the PP is the only one to blame for the blockade of the CGPJ

"You don't have to negotiate anything, you have to comply with the laws," he warns the 'popular'

MADRID, 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, criticized this Monday the "equidistance" of Carlos Lemes putting the PP and PSOE "on equal terms" with respect to the blockade of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) and has defended that the 'popular' they are the only ones to blame for the fact that the renewal is not possible.

"What this country is experiencing from a constitutional point of view is terrible," Robles lamented in an interview on Antena 3, collected by Europa Press, just a few hours after Lesmes announced his resignation as president of the CGPJ.

However, he has singled out the PP as the only culprit, whom he has accused of spending four years "boycotting" the renewal and taking "hostage" the governing body of the judges.

"I respect Carlos Lesmes' decision but it seems to me that the equidistance that he highlights, putting the PP and the PSOE on equal terms, is not acceptable", acknowledged the minister, who has insisted that the PP is the one who is "Breaching the Constitution".

In this sense, she has rejected the condition that the 'popular' set to reform the model of election of the members of the CGPJ and has recalled that the PP itself, while in La Moncloa, renewed the judiciary with the current system, being itself organ member. "There was then no problem of judicial independence?", She has asked her.

Robles has claimed that the Government's will to agree on a renewal is "very clear" and therefore "whose responsibility is the responsibility", accusing the leader of the 'popular', Alberto Núñez Feijóo, of even "bragging" of this constitutional breach.

Moreover, he has warned that the 'popular' cannot "give lessons" in judicial independence. "There is a law in force and the laws must be complied with. Nothing must be negotiated, the laws must be complied with. The Constitution is not negotiated, the laws are not negotiated, they are complied with," he settled.
