Robles charges against the CCAA that "did not do their homework" to prevent fires

MADRID, 28 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, has censured this Thursday those autonomous communities that "did not do their homework" in fire prevention before the summer and now have had to resort to the help of the Military Emergency Unit (UME).

"It cannot be that when the fires arrive we remember the UME", he has maintained without wanting to directly point to any autonomy, but criticizing that "culprits" are sought already in the middle of the fire campaign or resorting to "last minute occurrences" like "get hold of unemployed".

In an interview on Telecinco, collected by Europa Press, Robles explained that fire prevention work "takes a long time" and "it cannot be that at the beginning of the summer season some autonomous community had not done their homework".

Although he did not want to directly cite any autonomy in his criticism, he did highlight Andalusia as a "positive" example, since there is a "powerful" team there that has not required the collaboration of the UME "because it has worked and that prevention has been done".

"Solutions, foresight and prior investment", he claimed, but not before showing his "pride" for the work carried out during these months by the UME troops, in collaboration with members of the Air Force and the Army.
