Reynés meets with the President of Nigeria, one of Naturgy's leading gas suppliers

The president of Naturgy, Francisco Reynés, held a meeting this Thursday in Madrid with the president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, within the framework of the institutional visit of the Nigerian delegation to Spain.

Among other topics, the meeting discussed the excellent commercial relationship that unites Naturgy with Nigeria LNG, the country's main gas company, and the historic agreements that have made the African country one of the five main gas suppliers for the company Spanish. Likewise, the relations between both companies were deepened, they indicated to Europa Press in sources familiar with the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Commerce of Nigeria, Richard Adeniyi Adebayo; the Spanish ambassador in Nigeria, Juan Ignacio Sell; the Nigerian ambassador to Spain, Ademola Rasaq Seriki; as well as other members of the Nigerian delegation and other directors of Naturgy.

Naturgy has maintained a solid business relationship with the African country since 1992 through various LNG supply contracts. At the end of 2021, Nigeria was the third largest supplier of gas to Spain, ahead of countries such as Russia or Qatar. The company currently has an agreement with Nigeria LNG for a volume of 3 bcm per year.

Buhari traveled this week to Madrid in what was the first visit to Spain by a Nigerian head of state in the last 17 years. The president met with the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, as well as with King Felipe VI.

Sánchez transferred to Buhari "the interest of Spanish companies" in the sector in "continuing to bet on Nigeria in order to seek agreements that ensure a stable supply on a lasting basis", extending this strategic relationship also to the development of sustainable energies, according to with the 2030 Agenda.
