Red Bull committed a minor cost cap infringement in 2021

MADRID, 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The International Automobile Federation (FIA) confirmed on Monday that Red Bull exceeded, albeit slightly, the regulatory cost limit in the 2021 season, something that has caught the Austrian team by surprise.

As indicated by the FIA in a statement, Red Bull incurred last season in "Procedural Violations and Minor Excess Expenses of the Financial Regulations". The Austrian team would have exceeded this limit, located at 145 million dollars, by less than five percent, according to the British chain 'Sky Sports', which reported that it is unlikely that any type of sanction will be severe.

Red Bull expressed its "surprise and disappointment" after hearing this news. "Our 2021 submission was below the cost cap. We must therefore carefully review the FIA's findings as we believe the relevant costs are below the 2021 cost cap," he said in a statement.

"Despite the conjecture and positioning of others, there is of course a process under the regulations with the FIA that we will respectfully follow as we consider all options available to us," he added.

The FIA report also detailed that Aston Martin committed "a procedural breach" and that Williams had a procedural breach which it later remedied "in a timely, cooperative and transparent manner".

The agency stressed that the entire process has been "intensive and exhaustive" and that all the teams "provided their full support by providing the information required to assess their financial situation during this first year of the Financial Regulation."

"The FIA cost cap administration notes that all competitors acted at all times in a spirit of good faith and cooperation throughout the process," the international federation said.

The FIA also wishes to point out that, with regard to this first year of application of the Financial Regulations, the intervention of the FIA Cost Cap Administration has been limited to reviewing the submissions made by the Competitors and that no formal investigations have been initiated. complete.

The FIA Cost Cap Administration is currently determining the appropriate course of action to be taken under the Financial Regulations in respect of Aston Martin and Red Bull and further information will be communicated in accordance with the Regulations.
