The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, expressed his condolences on Wednesday for the death of the last leader of the USSR, Mikhail Gorbachev, whom he recognized for his "great influence on the course of world history" at a time when the The country was facing "complex, dramatic and large-scale" changes.
