Puigdemont accuses the King of being "the one who has done the most to objectively identify" the independentistas

BARCELONA, 1 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont accused the King this Wednesday of being "the one who has done the most to objectively identify" the pro-independence supporters with the speech he made on October 3, 2017, two days after 1-O.

"Who else has done to objectively identify us was the Spanish king in his speech on October 3, when he ordered our collective persecution. We are the 'they' of the 'Go for them! We are the 'catalufs', the 'Poles', the 'lacis'. We are what when we speak Catalan, they insult us", he pointed out in a Twitter thread collected by Europa Press.

He said this after the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) stated that a Euro-order can be denied on the grounds of a risk of violation of fundamental rights and deficiencies in the judicial system that affects an "objectively identifiable group of people".

According to Puigdemont, the independentistas are also the ones who choose political representatives "who cannot exercise normally, are suspended for political reasons and are deprived of the right of expression if they speak Catalan in the Spanish Parliament."

"We are the ones that the Spanish police hit for going to vote peacefully. We are the ones who are not allowed to speak our language in the EP because the Spanish government does not want to. We are the ones who approved a Statute and we cannot use it because it was disfigured by a politicized court", he assured.

Thus, the former Catalan president considers that to identify them one only has to look at the map, the history and the present of Catalonia: "We are the ones of the nation that the Spanish State has been fighting for centuries, also today and will continue to do so as long as it can".

For this reason, he believes that he only has one way out "to survive and live with dignity", and this is through independence.
