Podemos urges the approval of a framework law for firefighting services and a statute for forest firefighters

The Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, has urged to unblock the framework law for the coordination of fire prevention and extinction and rescue services, as well as to approve a specific statute for forest firefighters, given the wave of fires that the country is suffering.

"We have a democratic obligation, in the case of the Government it is an obligation marked by the coalition agreement, to reinforce public services and to take care of those who take care of us", she outlined moments before participating in the round table 'Is feminism useful? for crises?', within the framework of the summer courses of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM).

The minister and leader of Podemos has affirmed that both initiatives are essential to reinforce the public nature of the fire prevention and extinction services, given that she is aware that these troops now work in "very difficult conditions".

Montero has sent his love to the family of the brigade member who died when he was participating in the work of extinguishing the fire in Losacio (Zamora), to later launch that "it is no coincidence that Castilla y León has one of the services" that is most privatized and, therefore, makes it more difficult" for forest firefighters and the services that carry out these tasks.

"My respect and my deepest gratitude to all the emergency services that are working so hard during this week, also to the neighbors who are leaving their skin to try to extinguish these fires in their localities", the head of Equality has deepened.
