Podemos trusts the investiture partners to approve the energy saving decree in Congress

He advocates applying the measures with a "social perspective" to control the rich, who are "those who pollute the most"

MADRID, 20 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

United We Can trust the investiture partners to validate the energy saving decree law next week in Congress against a PP that it calls "irresponsible". Of course, he considers that this plan should incorporate more measures and guarantee that it is applied from a "social perspective".

"We believe that there is going to be support from the investiture bloc and of course we do not expect it from a PP that has been very irresponsible with this issue all summer, wanting to confront the communities with the Government of Spain," says the co-spokesman of Podemos Javier Sánchez Serna in an interview with Europa Press.

In his opinion, the PP is allowing itself to be carried away by "the trumpist path of Isabel Díaz Ayuso, despite the fact that it was Alberto Núñez Feijóo himself who requested these energy saving measures." "The PP is not behaving like a state party, but as a very irresponsible party that is difficult to separate from Vox," he says.

According to Sánchez Serna, the most feasible way for the decree to go ahead is for the parties that made the coalition Executive possible, the allies of the "plurinational and progressive bloc, who have given stability" to the Government, to join.

Faced with criticism from the national PP, which insists that this plan be withdrawn, and from Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who will appeal it to the Constitutional Court, the leader of Podemos insists that the decree is "mandatory" for all administrations and that, if their measures are breached, "there will be sanctions" and they will denounce it in court.

"We know that the PP on other occasions has risen up against the democratic laws that have come out of the Government and a majority of Congress, as with the Education Law, and has taken a practically seditious position, refusing to comply," he says. the coordinator of the party in Murcia.

In his opinion, the government's energy plan is "common sense", but he believes that a "social perspective" is lacking that requires fewer sacrifices from small businesses and SMEs, and that burdens "the rich" more.

"It is not the same to ask for efforts from the small neighborhood store, which costs much more effort than El Corte Inglés. We must be aware that the carbon footprint of a worker is not the same as that of a millionaire, because someone who lives in Vallecas in a 60-square-meter apartment doesn't spend the same amount of gas as someone who lives in La Moraleja in a 1,000-square-meter house," he stresses.

Sánchez Serna hopes that some more measure will be added later but that it does not affect "those below", "above all that they result in those who pollute the most, those who spend more energy, have to be the ones who tighten their belts more ".

Asked if public officials should set an example and make an extra effort, such as using the train more than the plane or the Falcon, Sánchez Serna believes that "tremendous demagoguery" is being carried out when the Public Administration is blamed for "all the expenses ". "It is the same discourse that we found with the 2008 crisis, in which it seemed that everything had to be cut in public," she adds.
