PNV demands Sánchez "a clear roadmap" and an agreement with the communities on the Energy Plan

He affirms that he will not discuss the tax on banks and electricity companies, although he will discuss "the forms", and asks for their agreement

BILBAO, 29 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputy of the PNV Idoia Sagastizabal has demanded this Monday from the President of the Government, Pedre Sánchez, "a clear roadmap" to obtain the support of the jeltzales in the remainder of the legislature. In addition, she has demanded that there be an agreement with the autonomous communities on the Energy Contingency Plan that Spain sends to Europe.

In an interview granted to Onda Vasca, collected by Europa Press, Sagastizabal explained that the Basque Group is not going to discuss the tax on banks and electricity companies, although it will discuss "the forms". In addition, he has requested their agreement. "We cannot leave the content of the Economic Agreement empty and because there are some powers, both here and in Navarra", he assured.

The Jeltzale leader has said that her party wants "a clear roadmap" for the remainder of the legislature "to know where we are going and how we are going to do it." "In fact, we also have an investiture agreement by which (Sánchez) had to inform us of all the actions he is going to carry out and count on us. And that is what we are asking for, that all of that be fulfilled," has underlined.

As he recalled, there are "exceptional circumstances" due to the energy problem in Europe, but also in a context of elections. "What we see is that there is no clear roadmap. It is a government that has a reactive policy, it is going in fits and starts", he considered.

In his opinion, the Executive "makes a very marketing policy". "All the measures are normally announced to us in a debate or in some extraordinary situation, and this is a problem," he assured.

In any case, he has admitted that there is a "very complicated" parliamentary context and the Jeltzales are willing to exhaust the legislature "at a crucial moment." "We have some recovery and resilience plans that must be addressed for the transformation of the economic and productive fabric, which must all be agreed with the autonomous communities. We have the whole energy issue, that of inflation, a major economic crisis that is going to arrive, and for all this time is needed, but also dialogue and a clear roadmap", he added.

The deputy jeltzale has assured that there are a series of parliamentary groups - those of the investiture -, that are "willing to try" because they cannot "lose the opportunity that Europe has offered in this sense, to do things in another way ".

Idoia Sagastizabal believes that the Government of Pedro Sánchez is also 'playing' with the fact that "there is no alternative on the other side", although she has admitted that in the PP "the tone has been lowered, but the substance remains the same" . "There's not so much anger anymore," she has acknowledged.

For this reason, he has said that, in the current situation, when measures are proposed by the Executive "it is very difficult to say no", and it is done by decree, which is "all or nothing". "Things can be done in another way," he said.

Sagastizabal has also explained that his support or not for the General State Budgets (PGE) will depend on the content of the project and whether it can be negotiated. "We never close anything, we don't set a red line, but rather we have to see a little what is presented and then we will have to start negotiating," he clarified.

The jeltzale leader has pointed out that an energy saving package based on objectives set by Europe is "very important, but it had to have been agreed, at least, with the autonomous communities, which are going to have to materialize that decree, they are going to have to implement the measures and they are the ones who are going to have to sanction those measures".

For this reason, he criticized the lack of "prior dialogue and consensus", above all, "in this context of uncertainty, with such high energy prices, in which energy savings are going to be necessary and important", in especially when "there are sanctions involved". "We are not so much in favor of sanctions, but we believe more in incentive measures", she has stated.

He also recalled that a Contingency Plan must be presented in Europe. "The Government of the Basque Country has proposed a first draft, which is very well put together and this has also been stated by the third vice-president (Teresa Ribera), and we understand that now the issues of the autonomous communities will be reflected in this Contingency Plan", has underlined.

As he assured, it is a commitment made by the third vice president, "who has endorsed it and has said that it is a robust plan", and which has been contrasted with the economic sectors, the social sectors and the rest of the agents, to complete the document.

Idoia Sagastizabal believes that, by agreeing to process the Spanish Government's energy decree as a bill, so that amendments can be incorporated, the Executive "has taken a step back." However, she has said that, "at the moment, it is better to be immediate and apply what is in that decree with flexibility and, from here, agree on the Contingency Plan."

Idoia Sagastizabal has admitted that the current situation is "critical" with "a complicated international context because there is a very important dependence on Russian gas in Europe", although Spain "does not depend so much" on it and has regasification capacity, which allows "higher volume reserves".

"But this does not mean that prices are going to go down because we are in an international market, because we have to continue buying gas and gas, in the end, is influencing the price of electricity and that we have the Iberian exception here" , has remarked.

After admitting that this 'Iberian exception' is working, he warned that the price of electricity will not fall, "but that everything that is increasing in other countries will not increase". "It goes up, but less", he has clarified him.

As for the imposition of taxes on banks and electricity companies that the PSOE Executive and United We Can intend, he explained that the underlying issue will not be discussed, but "the forms" will be. In his opinion, it must be taken into account that the electricity companies have to make "large investments in energy and digital transition", and he considers that the tax "can slow them down", something that must be taken into account.

Regarding the banking tax, he considers that it could be guaranteed, but it would be necessary to take into account "the effects that it may have because it may have repercussions on final clients and make loans to companies more expensive."

"But we are in an extraordinary situation in which we believe that everyone has to put their shoulders to the wheel. Therefore, we are not going to discuss the substance, although we will discuss the form, because they have established it a bit quickly," he stressed. .

For all these reasons, he specified that the PNV says "yes, but taxes must be arranged". "Because we cannot leave the content of the Economic Agreement empty and because there are some powers, both here and in Navarra. So, we are going to put all the meat on the grill so that these taxes are arranged", he stated, to ensure that there they will be able to "foot on the wall". "We are going to negotiate so that it is arranged," he remarked.
