BARCELONA, 4 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -
The Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa has apologized for the misinterpretation that arose as a result of an interview with quick questions in which she commented that Catalan was not a language, and has assured that she had to express herself in this way after the interviewer denied that she included to his mother tongue among the languages he spoke.
"When I did the interview, which was in England, the interviewer told me that (Catalan) didn't count as a language and so I had to express it that way," Badosa commented on 'El Matí de Catalunya Ràdio'.
In that interview with the 'Lawn Tennis Association' (LTA), to the question about the languages spoken, Badosa replied: "Spanish, Catalan, which is not a language but I count it anyway, and English".
A phrase that sparked controversy in the networks against the Catalan, from Begur, although born in New York. "When I woke up I saw the news of everything that has happened. The truth is that I am quite disappointed with all this," she acknowledged.
"I am very sorry that the news has been misunderstood. It is something that affects me and that is wrong, I apologize for the misinterpretation," said the tennis player, currently number 4 in the world in the WTA ranking.
