Patxi López, on the veto of Victoria Rosell for the CGPJ: "The agreement is above names"

MADRID, 26 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The PSOE spokesman in Congress, Patxi López, has remarked that the agreement to renew the Judiciary "is above names", when asked about the candidacy of the Government delegate against gender violence, Victoria Rosell, to be part of the new General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ), defended by United We Can and vetoed by the PP since it is a former deputy who currently occupies a high position in the Ministry of Equality of Irene Montero.

The spokesman for United We Can in Congress, Pablo Echenique, insisted on Tuesday on the demand that Rosell be part of the renewal of the CGPJ and has accused the PP of raising an "ad hoc veto" to his figure. In addition, he pointed out that "no progressive can support" this veto, as he has described it.

All the branches of United We Can support the possibility of Judge Rosell being a candidate, as the president of the parliamentary group Jaume Asens did last week, although the second vice president Yolanda Díaz and IU have advocated not publicizing names and focusing that discussion on discreetly in the negotiating arena. Meanwhile, Podemos publicly presses for her to be a formal candidate with the warning to get out of that pact.

In the corridors of Congress, when asked about the Rosell situation and the CGPJ negotiations, the socialist spokesman has avoided going into details and has limited himself to stressing that "the agreement is above names."
