Ouigo opens sale of 2.4 million tickets from 9 euros to travel at high speed until June 2023

MADRID, 3 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Ouigo, the 'low fare' operator of high-speed trains in Spain, opens this Monday at 11:00 a.m. the sale of 2.4 million new tickets for high-speed travel from December 11 to June 11, 2023 .

The routes, which start at 9 euros as part of its goal of democratizing high speed, will be for sale both on the website and on the Ouigo app, as reported by the company.

In total, the firm offers 1.66 million seats on the Madrid-Zaragoza-Tarragona-Barcelona line, with 64,134 seats available each week, and 740,000 seats on the Madrid-Valencia route that will open next Friday, October 7.

This new line will have a weekly offer of 35,630 seats following Ouigo's request to expand its operations to five daily frequencies (10 routes).

"A little over a year ago we arrived in Spain with a single objective: to open the doors of high speed to all pockets. From now on, almost 100,000 people a week will be able to enjoy our low rates, approaching triple the offer with which we started our operations", highlighted the Commercial and Marketing Director of Ouigo, Federico Pareja.

Since its arrival in Spain on May 10, 2021, Ouigo has already transported more than 2.9 million passengers on its only operating line to date, between Madrid and Barcelona. On this route, more than 567,000 people have traveled from/to Zaragoza and more than 92,000 travelers have gotten on or off in Tarragona.

Within the framework of Ouigo's strategy to extend the use of high speed on the Spanish map, by 2023 the company plans to connect the cities of Madrid and Alicante, with a stop in Albacete. The route will have two daily frequencies, adding four routes in total per day. Subsequently, Ouigo plans to arrive in Andalusia with five round trips (10 routes) to Seville, Malaga and Cordoba.
