One hundred Telefónica employees sign up for the program to work four days a week

MADRID, 26 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Approximately one hundred Telefónica employees have registered to start working in the four-day week modality, whose registrations were enabled on June 14, according to union sources transferred to Europa Press.

The firm's workers will be able to register until July 15 in this type of work, in which around 150 workers who have participated in the pilot are already performing their duties.

After a satisfactory result of the test, Telefónica has decided to extend the four-day shift modality to the more than 18,000 workers under the agreement in Spain, with some limitations such as a maximum adoption of 10% of the workers of a unit.

This shift reduces the worker's weekly shift by five and a half hours and is associated with a corresponding 12% salary reduction, equivalent to four hours' salary.

Registrations to adopt the day are made for the period between September and December. Once the end of the year is reached, Telefónica will enable annual periods of adhesion or exit from the project.

The arrival of the four-day week is part of the agreements signed by the unions and Telefónica for the renewal of the agreement and the social pact of employment annexed to the Individual Suspension Plan (PSI) at the end of the year.

Among the measures of this plan, there is also deepening teleworking and promoting the relocation of activities to generate employment in small provinces.
