Norwegian carried 1.9 million passengers in September, with a return of the business passenger

MADRID, 6 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Norwegian transported 1,873,850 passengers during the month of September, which represents an increase of 92% compared to 977,719 a year earlier, with a return of the business passenger and an average occupancy of more than 85%, as reported by the airline .

"September was another busy month for travel within, to and from the Nordic countries. As we enter the autumn holiday season, we are seeing particularly high demand from international destinations, both city and beachside. Nordic passengers continue to have a strong need to travel abroad," said Norwegian CEO Geir Karlsen.

"We are also delighted to see that the corporate market is making a comeback after the summer season. The number of corporate travelers is now on par with pre-pandemic levels for our busiest domestic trade routes in Norway," he added.

Capacity (measured in ASK) was 2,618 million seat-kilometres, while actual passenger traffic (measured in PKT) was 2,230 million seat-kilometres.

In September, Norwegian operated an average of 67 aircraft and 98.9% of scheduled flights were completed. Punctuality (measured by the number of flights leaving within 15 minutes of the scheduled time) was 80.1% in September.

However, 95% of all departing flights arrived on time or within an hour of their scheduled arrival time.

"Norwegian is well prepared to face the quieter period of the winter season through rigorous route planning, flexible fleet lease terms through pay-per-hour agreements, as well as strong agreements with our unions. We recently launched our summer 2023 calendar with an enhanced offer for popular city and beach destinations across Europe, translating into the hiring of 700 new colleagues across all our bases," explained Karlsen.
