New construction permits increased by 18.42% in the first quarter, with the best March since 2009

New construction permits increased by 18.42% in the first quarter of 2022, to 28,165 units, compared to 23,783 registered in the same period of the previous year, according to statistics published this week by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) and consulted by Europa Press.

The number of new building permits stood at 10,899 in March, 26.69% higher than in the same month of the previous year. In addition, this year's data is the best recorded in a month of March since 2009, when 11,061 new construction permits were granted.

New construction management visas for the first quarter of 2022 are broken down into 7,219 for single-family homes, 20,936 for block homes and ten for other buildings that are neither single-family homes nor block, according to Mitma statistics.

Data for March shows that 2,798 visas were granted for single-family construction, 8,100 for block housing and one for other buildings.

The average area of ​​single-family homes in March was 197.3 square meters, while that of block homes was 111.7 square meters. For the category of other buildings, the average area was 128 square meters.
