Nadal denies Puigdemont "presidential legitimacy" and bets on retaking the Statute prior to the ruling of the TC

BARCELONA, 31 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister for Research and Universities, Joaquim Nadal, has denied that the former president of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont today has "presidential legitimacy" and has described his rejection of the reform of the crime of sedition as understandable, although he does not believe that This hinders the negotiation.

"The legitimate president in Brussels, in Waterloo, is an episode from five years ago," he defended in an interview on La 2 and Ràdio 4 this Monday collected by Europa Press, in which he asked about the legitimacy of the two subsequent presidents, Quim Torra and Pere Aragonés.

Nadal has defended that 1-O was "a great mobilization, but it did not end up being what people expected it to be because the objective of the consultation did not materialize", and has urged the independentists to --literally-- recognize it and, to the State, to apologize for the police action.

Likewise, he has advocated "retaking the fullness of the Statute filed, modulated and loaded by the ruling of the Constitutional Court" since, in his opinion, it can be a starting point for a solid self-government that serves to advance towards self-determination and amnesty .

The counselor has claimed to be "a socialist without a party" and has maintained that the social democratic ideology is, in his words, above the parties, for which he sees his political trajectory as coherent.

He has said that he would have rejected any other Ministry and has insisted that he will not opt for the Mayor's Office of Girona, which he has already held in the past.

Nadal has maintained that Catalonia needs some Budgets for 2023 and that the Government will make "the movements that are necessary to have them", opening up to the political forces that can offer their votes, although he has stressed that he does not participate in the negotiations.

He has insisted that the accounts bear "the accent and the hand" of the former Minister of Economy and member of Junts, Jaume Giró, and has assured that the new team will improve them to increase social spending.

In this line, he has criticized that "many people in Catalonia, except the 'destroyers', believe that an electoral process is not appropriate" but has refused to point to a specific formation or organization.
