Moncloa maintains that the 'Mediator' case will have no electoral cost and citizens will value that they act quickly

The spokeswoman insists on linking Feijóo to the motion of no confidence, she believes that he participated in the decisions and now he is hiding under the table

MADRID, 28 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Government maintains that the 'Mediator' case, which investigates an alleged corruption plot involving businessmen, a Civil Guard general and at least one former PSOE deputy -who has already been expelled from the party- will not lead to a electoral cost for the Socialists before the next regional and municipal elections on May 28.

The government sources consulted are convinced that, on the contrary, the citizens will value the rapid intervention of the PSOE in this matter, which has already forced the delivery of the act of deputy of Juan Bernardo Fuentes Curbelo and has expelled him from the party.

On the possibility that there are more deputies of the PSOE involved, the government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, has referred to the statements of the socialist spokesperson in Congress, Patxi López, who this morning has transferred that up to now they are not aware that there are more parliamentarians involved but if any appear, they would be expelled from the party and the socialist group.

Rodríguez has indicated that the group's discipline falls on the leadership of the parliamentary group and considers that López's words send "a message of tranquility" to the public and stress the PSOE's zero tolerance for corruption. "I think the resounding and prompt response that has been given is very important," he pointed out at the press conference after the Council of Ministers held this Tuesday at La Moncloa.

On this same matter, Rodríguez has shown his rejection of attitudes that he has described as "denigrating and incompatible with public commitment" and has highlighted the rapid and "absolute" response of the PSOE. "When there is nothing to hide, there is no time to lose", he has settled.

The spokeswoman has not, however, clarified whether the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, is going to offer explanations in Congress for this matter and has criticized the PP for being so "encourageous" with the case at the same time that he has once again reproached the opposition leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, his closeness to those involved in corruption cases, such as the president of the Ibiza Council, Vicent Marí, who is being charged and the mayoress of Marbella, whose husband and stepson are also involved in another alleged plot corrupt. "I would like to see him in the same mood in cases that directly affect him," she reproached.

On the other hand, regarding the motion of censure presented against the Government, Isabel Rodríguez has not made it clear whether it will be Sánchez who will intervene and reply to the candidate presented by Vox, Ramón Tamames. She, thus, she alone, has indicated that the Government will act "as befits the Presidency in this type of debate."

In this regard, government sources have indicated that the Executive will clarify whether Sánchez participates once the Congressional Bureau classifies the request for a motion of censure, a process that is expected to be completed next week. In this sense, other government sources took it for granted this week that it will be the president who will take the podium.

Isabel Rodríguez has also insisted on the link of the PP with the motion of no confidence and has maintained that Feijóo "has participated" in it since he acknowledged that he had met both with Tamames and with the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal. "He has participated in the decision making but now he hides under the table."

In his opinion, the PP is now closer to the extreme right because in the last motion presented by Vox, the 'popular' then led by Pablo Casado voted no while now they will remain in abstention, as announced by Feijóo himself.
