The Government has stressed that the meeting this Monday between the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Second Vice President, Yolanda Díaz, shows that the Executive is "strong" to overcome adversity and marks the future General State Budgets of the year that It comes as a "fundamental tool" to respond to the needs of the majority of Spaniards.

This was stated in a press conference after the Council of Ministers by the spokesperson for the Executive, Isabel Rodríguez, to frame this meeting in the "field of normal" and "usual" relations that exist within the coalition Executive, which maintains contacts with "assiduity".

In this sense, Rodríguez has stressed that the meeting has been "positive" and that the Executive of PSOE and United We Can is already working on future public accounts, where the aim is to give "absolute importance" to the public in exceptional moments such as the current ones, just as it happened in the pandemic.

The spokeswoman has not revealed whether the discrepancies of United We Can with respect to the Official Secrets draft have been addressed in this afternoon's appointment and has commented, questioned by the request for a meeting of the coalition monitoring commission demanded by the minority partner, that the parties then maintain the meetings that they consider appropriate.

That yes, Rodríguez has pointed out that the budget matter was in the background in a progressive Executive that takes on "more importance" to give "tranquility to Spaniards in times of uncertainty", compared to those who question the priority of "taking a hand to those who need it most". Therefore, the Executive's response will be with "forcefulness and determination" with the Budgets as a "fundamental tool."

The meeting between the two leaders of the coalition took place before the summer period and, according to government sources, the "continue working hand in hand" has become clear, beginning with the budget negotiation.

At the beginning of July, Díaz had requested a meeting of the monitoring table of the coalition agreement, to address the discrepancies between PSOE and United We Can on military spending, which returned to the forefront of the news coinciding with the NATO Summit in Madrid .

Meanwhile, this morning Sánchez has expressed his willingness to convene it: "I think that dialogue, talking between the government partners is important. We are and we are in favor of that meeting taking place," he said.
