Merlin, Amadeus, BBVA, Iberdrola, IAG and REE stand out in Standard Ethics' 'SE Spanish Index'

MADRID, 20 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Standard Ethics has published this Tuesday the 'SE Spanish Index', a ranking that measures and evaluates the level of compliance with the international sustainability guidelines established by the European Union, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the UN by the 40 largest listed Spanish companies and in whose last edition Merlin Properties, Amadeus, BBVA, Iberdrola, IAG and Red Eléctrica Corporación (REE) stood out in the first positions.

Grades are based on a nine letter grade scale. Specifically, 'EEE' would correspond to the maximum grade, followed by 'EEE-' (excellent), 'EE ' (very strong), 'EE' (strong), 'EE-' (adequate), 'E ' ( low), 'E' (very low), 'E-' (unsatisfactory) and 'F', which would be the worst possible grade.

In this way, Merlin Properties has been the company that has obtained a higher rating with an 'EE'. Following are Amadeus, BBVA, Iberdrola, IAG and REE, which have achieved the 'EE' rating.

One step below ('EE-') there are a total of 13 companies, specifically: Cellnex Telecom, Acciona, Banco de Sabadell, Bankia, Enagás, Ence Energía y Celulosa, Ferrovial, Indra, Repsol, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Telefónica, Viscofán and Alba Financial Corporation.

With an 'E' rating, 16 companies have been cataloged: Banco Santander, Mapfre, Acerinox, ArcelorMittal, Bankinter, Caixabank, Endesa, Grifols, Inmobiliaria Colonial, Meliá Hotels International, Naturgy Energy Group, Técnicas Reunidas, Fluidra, Grupo Catalana Occidente, Ebro Foods and Almirall.

With a grade of 'E' are ACS, Aena, CIE Automotive and Mediaset Espana. Meanwhile, Inditex closes the list with a rating of 'E-'.

"Spain's path towards sustainability in recent years has been ambitious and consistent with international guidelines, which is reflected in the current sustainable standards of many companies based in the country. In addition, taking into account the general acceleration of the market towards sustainability, the agency will publish the SE Mid Spanish Index, with ratings for 20 medium-sized companies, in November 2022", Standard Ethics has highlighted.
