Maroto says from Moncloa that Madrid needs a change and hopes that citizens value his management in the Ministry

He affirms that the PP lies when criticizing the management of European funds and accuses them of generating noise and tension

MADRID, 5 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, and PSOE candidate for mayor of Madrid, stated on Monday that the country's capital "needs a change" and that she hopes that citizens will value her management at the head of the Ministry. In addition, she has described the PP's criticism of the management of European funds as "lies".

Maroto made these statements from the Palacio de La Moncloa, at the press conference after the Council of Ministers, when asked if he plans to remain in charge of this department until April, and if the position can be made compatible with the concurrence to the municipal elections that are celebrated on May 28.

Thus, she has indicated that on this occasion she appears as a minister and therefore she would not respond to questions about her candidacy, although she has immediately indicated that the most important thing is the result of the management and therefore she hopes that in this way she can convince the people of Madrid " about a candidacy that I assume with great responsibility", he indicated.

Along these lines, she has maintained that she hopes that citizens will value the Government's management and hers as minister in charge of a "complex" department, which has had to address the consequences of the pandemic first and then of the war in Ukraine, according to underlined.

Maroto has defended that the Government is reinforcing the protection of companies and families and has vindicated its work as a manager of European funds against some autonomous governments of the PP that, in his opinion, use "lies" to indicate that the funds do not arrive or are they do "with a bias" in favor of the communities governed by the PSOE.

"These are the facts compared to the slogans" that the PP constantly emits, according to what he has pointed out. In his opinion, the 'popular' act in this way "in the absence of management and action" and try to turn politics into "noise and tension", as he has pointed out.

"Governments are required to carry out useful politics, the lies respond more to a way of doing politics that has nothing to do with the needs of Madrid or the public as a whole," he added.

In this regard, government sources have argued that Maroto has not campaigned from her position as minister with these statements, but has defended the government's management.
