Maroto affirms that Spain is returning to "build bridges" with Algeria

MÁLAGA, 16 Jun. (EUROPE PRESS) -

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, referred this Thursday to the situation and relationship with Algeria and explained that the Government is "building bridges again".

"I believe that trust is the most important thing to solve this problem and also to do it with prudence", he pointed out, while stressing that "the diplomatic part, in these cases, is the most important".

In this sense, she added that the Executive is establishing contacts with the Algerian counterparts, both the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, and herself on the part of Trade, to try to channel a problem and seek an agreed solution to get back to normal.

This has been pointed out by Maroto when questioned by journalists in Malaga, after inaugurating the Tourism

"Therefore, there is a problem in exports; it is something that goes against the association agreement between the EU and Algeria and we are informing the Commission so that, in its case, if it is verified that this is being producing and stretches out over time, you can take action", he indicated.

On the other hand, he has valued the holding of the NATO summit in the country. "The fact that Spain receives NATO's top partners at such an important moment shows the unity in the face of a war that we are also facing in a very reinforced way from the EU", she pointed out.
