Marc Márquez: "I'd like to fight at the front again, but it's not realistic"

Pol Espargaró: "We have to repeat what happened in Japan and improve it again in Thailand"

MADRID, 27 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish Repsol Honda rider Marc Márquez showed his desire to "fight again" at the front this weekend at the Thai Grand Prix, in the seventeenth round of the Motorcycle World Championship, although he considers that "it is not realistic to establish this expectation".

"I would like to fight at the front again, but I don't think it's realistic to set this expectation. It's not our goal either, we're here to build," explained the eight-time world champion in statements provided by his team.

For the one from Cevera, the goal is to go back to doing a "complete" Grand Prix like in Japan, where he got pole position and a fourth place in the race. The Repsol Honda Team rider continues to recover from his right humerus and, little by little, he is increasing the pace of competition and improving his sensations.

Now, the oldest of the Márquez family arrives at the Chang International Circuit, a track where he has won the two and only MotoGP races that have been held to date. "I have very good memories of the years 2018 and 2019, especially our last visit, and I am looking forward to seeing the fans again," he added.

For his part, his teammate Pol Espargaró highlighted the improvement in Japan, where they were able to "find a little" the speed they had at the beginning of the year. "Now we have to repeat and improve it again in Thailand," he said.

The Repsol Honda rider arrives in Buriram after a good weekend in Motegi, where he improved his performance in Japan, as well as his practice times and feelings. "On my previous visits to Thailand I didn't have the best of luck, but now I'm coming on a different bike so we'll see what we can achieve this weekend," he concluded.
