Lula and Bolsonaro engage in a war of movie jokes on Twitter

MADRID, 25 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, and the presidential candidate Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva have staged a brawl this Saturday with a "war of movies" through the social network Twitter.

Lula has opened hostilities with a message in which he proposed to his followers on the social network a movie for the weekend: 'Back to the Future', 'Return of the King' or 'Return of the Jedi', in reference to the advantage that the polls give him over his favoritism in the October elections.

"The weekend is coming, movies, popcorn... The Lula team is thinking of doing a marathon of these sagas. These are our favorites," reads the message on the president's account.

Bolsonaro has responded with a retouched cover of 'The Two Towers' under the legend 'The Lord of the triplex' in reference to a case filed against the candidate: the case of the Guarujá triplex for which former President Da Silva was convicted of crimes of corruption and money laundering.

On October 2, 2022, Brazil holds general elections in which not only the new president of the country will be decided, but also 27 governors and senators, 513 federal deputies and 1,059 state deputies. In the event that a first round is necessary to elect the head of state, it will take place on October 30.

With a little over a hundred days to go before the elections, the president of Brazil is still far from being the first option among Brazilians, as indicated by the latest Datafolha survey, which gives him 34 percent in intention to vote, far from the 57 percent that former President Da Silva would have, in case the two face each other in the second round of those elections.

In all possible scenarios, President Bolsonaro would be defeated, even if he were to face the Democratic Labor Party (PDT) candidate Ciro Gomes in the second round, who would win with 51 percent of the vote, leaving the still head of state with 37 percent of support.
