The former Sevilla coach admits "mixed emotions" on his departure from the club with which he won the Europa League

SEVILLA, 6 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui stressed that he has lived "three historic years" in which he 'touched' "silver" with the conquest of the Europa League and qualification for the Champions League in three consecutive seasons, after confirming his dismissal at end of the defeat (1-4) against Borussia Dortmund in 'Champions'.

"They have told me that the president and vice president are no longer the coach of Sevilla. They have been three spectacular, historic years, we played 'silver', we got three consecutive qualifications for the 'Champions' and this year we have not started well and they have taken a decision that I have to accept even if I don't like it," he said.

Julen Lopetegui expressed his gratitude to Sevilla's general sporting director, Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo 'Monchi', to the Board of Directors, to his footballers and to the fans. "Because you have helped me to achieve what we have achieved. Above all, to our fans. The recognition that they have given me is for me, because it is one of the great recognitions that I receive. The fans are intelligent and sovereign and they know what that has happened in these three and a half years. I have mixed emotions, but the first is gratitude and I don't want to think of a negative word," he said.

The passage through Sevilla has left the "soaked heart" of the club and the city. Regarding the game, he commented that once again the forcefulness of the rival in the areas has "killed" them.

"We haven't played a bad game at a collective level. The first time they arrived they scored a goal. Then we had options to score and we conceded the second and third, despite being more intense in the second half. We didn't score and they have made us the fourth goal", he summed up.
