Lesmes summons the Government Chamber in the TS and the Permanent Commission in the CGPJ to account for his resignation

MADRID, 10 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Carlos Lesmes has summoned the Governing Chamber of the Supreme Court (TS) and the Permanent Commission of the General Council of the Judiciary (CGPJ) to inform both of his announced resignation, which will not take effect until he formalizes his resignation as president of both institutions and be published in the Official State Gazette (BOE).

The sources of the governing body of the judges consulted by Europa Press indicate that Lesmes has summoned the Government Chamber for 1:00 p.m. and half an hour later to the Permanent Commission of the CGPJ. At the moment, the same sources stress that the resignation has not yet been formalized.

Once you sign your departure, the protocol states that you must communicate it to the Royal House and the Government, although it will not come into force until it is published in the BOE, something that is expected to happen tomorrow.

When it happens, the succession will take place automatically in the person of the Vice President of the Supreme Court, Judge Francisco Marín Castán, according to the sources asked by this news agency.

However, the same sources warn that the members of the CGPJ could resist the promotion of Marín Castán, which could lead to a situation of bicephaly in the Judiciary.
