Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has announced the release or reduced sentence of more than 2,000 prisoners in Iran, on the occasion of the Islamic holidays of Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Ghadir.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has granted pardon and reduced sentences to a total of 2,272 Iranian prisoners, based on the request of the head of the Iranian judiciary, Gholam Hussein Moseni, as reported by the Kurdish news agency Rudaw.
Every year the Iranian leader grants several collective graces on the occasion of the major religious or national holidays at the proposal of the head of the judicial authority.
