Judge Supports Making Part of Trump Mansion Search Affidavit Public

MADRID, 19 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

A federal judge in Florida has asked the US Department of Justice (DOJ) to prepare the FBI affidavit that would justify the search warrant for former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago mansion, as it is likely to order a partial publication of it.

Magistrate Bruce Reinhart, who ordered the Mar-a-Lag raid, has ordered the DOJ to prepare redactions of the document (redacted proposals) by noon next Thursday. "I'm inclined not to seal the entire affidavit," Reinhart has said.

The DOJ had opposed this Monday the full publication of the affidavit, after presenting a file in which they denied any effort to reveal the document because "it would jeopardize an ongoing investigation."

"The affidavit supporting the search warrant presents a very different set of considerations," the document reads. Thus, they noted that "compelling reasons remain, including to protect the integrity of an ongoing police investigation involving national security, that support keeping the affidavit sealed."

For his part, Trump said on his Truth Social network that Reinhart should release the full, unredacted affidavit.
