Jucil denounces the wage difference of 500 euros per month between civil guards and regional police

MADRID, 9 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Professional Association of the Civil Guard (Jucil) has launched this Wednesday a campaign on social networks to denounce the salary difference of 500 euros per month between the civil guards and the regional police of the Basque Country and Catalonia.

Jucil highlights in its campaign that this salary difference is equivalent to not receiving their salaries in October and working for free during the months of November and December.

This situation affects 70,000 civil guards, as Jucil points out in its statement, in which it also denounces "the false equality signed in 2018", which maintains their salaries 500 euros per month, on average, below those of a Basque ertzainza or a Catalan Mosso d'Esquadra.

The general secretary of Jucil, Ernesto Vilariño, explains in the statement that the civil guards work "for free until the end of the year" compared to other regional police officers.

Along the same lines, the Jucil spokeswoman, Melisa Carmona, points out in the video broadcast on social networks as part of the campaign that the salary of the Civil Guard is "twice lower than that of a Basque or Catalan regional police officer."

"While they receive their full salary in November and December, the civil guards, compared to what our colleagues from the regional police work, work for free until the end of the year," adds Carmona.

The Jucil spokeswoman warns that the Civil Guard agents are "not satisfied or happy" with this situation and accuses the Administration of "forgetting its commitments".
