José Bordalás: "I don't know if my dismissal is fair or unfair, I accept and respect it"

MADRID, 6 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The coach José Bordalás did not want to argue in his farewell this Monday after being dismissed last Friday from Valencia CF, a decision that he accepts and respects and that he avoided considering "fair or unfair" because he is "tremendously grateful" to the club 'che' and "it wouldn't help at all" a criticism.

The man from Alicante offered a press conference at a hotel in the Turia capital with the aim of saying goodbye to the fans "and thanking everyone for the behavior" they have had with him in a season that he described as "very intense".

From the first moment, Bordalás' tone was conciliatory and he assured that for him it had been "very gratifying and incredible to be able to lead Valencia". "It is a round of thanks and farewell. It was something unexpected, but this is football and the clubs have owners. They have decided not to continue and I have to accept it," he stressed.

"I would have liked to go on and on, we have experienced very nice moments, regained illusions and I just want to thank everyone, players, coaching staff, fans and the media. I am proud to have been able to lead Valencia CF", he added.

The coach, without going into depth, recalled that everyone knows "the reasons" for his departure. "It's something I have to accept, but honestly, I'm proud of the work I've done and of having been able to lead a club with more than a hundred years of history," he insisted.

"I have worked professionally, with maximum dedication so that the club achieves its maximum objectives. I have already said that Valencia is a club that should be fighting for positions of privilege, but we are happy because we carry out a job with a lot of dedication and professionalism, I I predict that the club will soon regain its status and will once again be among the best in the league," he stressed.

Bordalás also avoided commenting on whether he was negotiating with another coach (Gennaro Gattuso) before terminating his contract. "I don't know, it's not something that worries me. I wish Valencia the best and if I can help them, I'm willing to help whoever comes in and the club," he said.

The man from Alicante confessed that the 'che' team has "marked" him and that he is "tremendously grateful". "I have been lucky, even though it was a bad time, but if Rafa Nadal, who has won everything, does not complain about anything, how can I complain?" he assured.

In this sense, he described as "very good and always cordial" his relationship with Anil Murthy, who has also left his position as president of Valencia. "We never had any type of conflict. There may be differences of thought, but each one runs a club as they consider and I have to accept it. I demanded things that could not be, but this is not the time to talk about it," he said.

"He has been my president and I have great respect for him, just as he has always respected me. I have never felt ignored or let myself be ignored, respect is earned and I think I have earned the respect of many people throughout my career for my commitment and dedication", remarked the former Valencian coach, for whom "talking about the past does not lead anywhere". "I have to be respectful of the club because I have great affection for it," he reiterated.

The one from Alicante also did not want to "assess whether it was the correct way or not" to communicate his dismissal with a call and affirmed that his opinion about Peter Lim, owner of the club, has not changed. "The fact that we have not had recent contact until my last day does not mean that he is not a close person. In the two meetings he had with him he has behaved very correctly with me and I cannot blame anything in that regard," he warned.

"I'm being totally honest, really, maybe there are many people who expected another answer, but I have a lot of respect for Valencia CF. I don't know if they have acted well or badly, other people have to say that. I no longer belong to Valencia, but I have come to say goodbye and to thank you for the behavior you have had with me, it would not help at all to go back to the past, to March, to December. As a coach I demanded some things, the club could not give them to me, and now I do not think that this can help at all " , settled the Alicante.

For this reason, Bordalás would have no problem, "with all humility", in helping Valencia he is needed, and made it clear that now he is going to "rest". "I will follow you with the greatest interest from afar. I am leaving with love and the recognition of many people, and that is priceless," he celebrated.

"I don't think about it, I've already had a lot of experiences and honestly it doesn't surprise me. I experienced a similar situation at Alavés, to which I was promoted and my contract was terminated. At that time it affected me a lot and I thought an injustice had been committed, but then it went really well for me. I am a fighter and a winner, and this does not surprise me and I accept it. I do not know if it is fair or unfair, I accept it and respect it, "he said.

He leaves Valencia "with an enormous perception" of what it is as an entity and with "a clear conscience". "The work has not given us to be in Europe, but to be in the final of the Copa del Rey. The team has qualified for the Super Cup, has improved its classification from the previous two seasons and we have been able to make many boys debut of the Academy", he considered.

Finally, he referred to Carlos Soler and José Luis Gayà, "two magnificent players" and whose future he does not know. "I see them as super players, they are the heritage of the club and they should continue here. That is what I would like, but there is also the decision that they make and that they want to grow. They carry Valencia in their hearts and they have shown it to me day after day. day," he said.
