Jill Biden regrets the "stagnation" of the mandate of the president of the United States due to "unforeseen crises"

MADRID, 17 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The first lady, Jill Biden, lamented this Saturday her frustration over the "stagnation" of the mandate of the president of the United States, Joe Biden, due to global problems that have caused "unforeseen crises."

"[The president] had so many hopes and plans for the things that he wanted to do, but every time you turned around, he had to address the problems of the moment," said Jill Biden, during a private fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee, in Massachusetts, in statements collected by the American television channel CNN.

Biden has pointed to the Supreme Court's abortion decision, the war in Ukraine, and gun violence in the country as some of the issues that have made the president's job difficult.

"He's just had so many things come his way," he said. "Who would have ever thought what happened (when the Supreme Court overturned) 'Roe versus Wade'? Well, maybe we saw it coming, but we still didn't believe it. Gun violence in this country is absolutely appalling. No we saw the war coming in Ukraine," he described.

These statements by the first lady have coincided with a drop in the US president's approval ratings, the newspaper 'The Hill' has reported. Recent polls have revealed that voters are not very enthusiastic about Biden's 2024 presidential bid.

Likewise, Jill Biden has stated that she has also felt paralyzed in her role as first lady.

"I was like, 'Okay, I've been a second lady. I've worked in community colleges. I've worked in military families. I've worked in cancer.' Those were supposed to be my areas of interest. Blanca) I had to be, with everything that was happening, the first lady of the moment," Biden explained.
