Isabel Rodríguez, on a pardon for Griñán: "The Government is not moved by electoral profitability but by social"

MADRID, 22 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The spokeswoman for the Executive and Minister for Territorial Policy, Isabel Rodríguez, stated this Monday that the PSOE is not concerned that a hypothetical pardon for former Andalusian President José Antonio Griñán, sentenced to 6 years in prison for the 'ERE case', could subtract votes in the electoral cycle of 2023, since the Government and the socialists prioritize, he has said, "social profitability" over electoral profitability.

According to the spokeswoman, the Government is not moved by electoral criteria, but by "legality, social profitability and meeting the needs, not making demoscopies of each of the decisions", she has indicated in statements to TVE, collected by Europa Press.

Rodríguez has defended that the Executive has the legal power to grant pardons, although he has pointed out that the time has not yet come to analyze Griñán's file, given that for now there is only the intention of the family of the former Andalusian president - convicted of the Supreme Court to 6 years in prison for prevarication and embezzlement in the 'ERE case'-- if requested.

"The family has the right to do so and the Government will study it in detail, as we always do," he stated.
