Irene Paredes: "We have a final before us and we just want to win"

"It won't be the most difficult game, but it will be one of the most important"

MADRID, 15 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The captain of the Spanish women's soccer team, Irene Paredes, acknowledged that they have "a final" this Saturday against Denmark in the third and last day of the group stage of the European Championship, so they "only" want to win to get the go to quarters

"The team is fine, with a lot of desire. Losing against Germany was a possibility, although we didn't want to think about it. It happened like that and now we have a final. We are preparing, after the game we were hurt, but we have a new opportunity and we want to win," said Paredes at the press conference prior to the match.

The azulgrana, aware that her future is at stake in the continental competition, highlighted the relevance of the match. "It will not be the most difficult game, but it will be one of the most important. But so have the previous two. We are used to accepting that responsibility, we know what we are playing for," she added.

"In a match like this we seek to arrive fresh with a completely clean mind to make good decisions. Each one already knows how to manage that, tomorrow we know what we are playing for, nerves will enter but at the same time we are calm because we fully trust the team", pointed.

Now, the team will seek to perform against a team with the same objective as the Spanish, being tied on points (3). "We all have a background in which we have competed in difficult moments and it is true that each one develops a little bit of their strategies to take away those nerves that you have on top of you, which sometimes harm you," she valued.

The defense shared a locker room with Signe Bruun and Nadia Nadim, the Danes' offensive strengths in attack along with Harder. "Bruun is one more reference '9' who likes to play up front and Nadim moves better between the lines. Playing with them allows me to know the best and inform the team to try to stop them tomorrow," she concluded.
