BRUSELAS, 6 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Iran has warned the European Union before "hasty measures" for the death of Masha Amini in police custody, after the High Representative for Foreign Policy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, demanded that Tehran be held accountable for the death of the young man and to cease the violent repression of the demonstrations unleashed after his death.

In a telephone contact late on Wednesday with the Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdolahian, the head of diplomacy called on the Iranian authorities to take responsibility for Amini's death, to cease violence against demonstrators protesting in the streets of Iran and to release those detained in this framework.

"The right to protest and the free flow of information must be allowed. The EU is considering all options," Borrell said in a message on social networks, recalling that the Twenty-seven will study new sanctions against Tehran in this case.

For his part, Amirabdolahian pointed out that the judiciary is investigating the death of the 22-year-old, arrested for allegedly wearing the veil incorrectly, according to Iranian law, and that the result of the investigation will soon be announced.

Faced with the EU's threat to apply sanctions in this case, the Iranian Foreign Minister warned that "any political action rushed by the latest disturbances in the country based on unfounded accusations and aimed at inciting rioters and terrorists" will be answered. by Iran, the IRNA agency reported.

In this context, he defended the right to peaceful demonstration in Iran but attributed a violent nature to the protests, pointing out that "rioters" have set fire to ambulances and damaged public places, with "terrorist acts" such as attacks on police officers and other people. "The government will deal firmly with rioters and terrorists, based on the law," she said.
