Interior calculates the increase for police and civil guards at 38% adding the PGE and the equalization agreement

The police and civil guards will see their salary increased by 38% on average by the sum of the Salary Equalization Agreement applied between 2018-2020 and the "salary improvement" provided for all public officials through the General State Budgets ( PGE) by 2023.

According to sources from the Ministry headed by Fernando Grande-Marlaska, the salary increase for State officials of 9.5% until 2024 is added to the Salary Equalization Agreement that involved an investment of 807 million euros in three years (2018- 2020), with an average salary increase of 26% under said agreement.

The Ministry also highlights that Spain will reach in 2023 the "historical maximum" of troops in the State Security Forces and Bodies, which already exceed 154,500 National Police and Civil Guard agents. In this way, the more than 13,000 agents lost between 2011 and 2018, in the two previous legislatures of the Popular Party, are recovered.

The aforementioned sources point out that the increase in agents implies a "record investment in personnel" that amounts to eight billion euros in the 2023 Budgets, with an increase of 6.5% compared to 2022 (491.5 million euros). ). This increase represents 43.1% of the total increase in the Budget of the Ministry of the Interior.

"This is the consolidation of security as a public good", point out the aforementioned sources, who maintain that the cuts" of the PP have been "reversed".

Investment in goods and services grew by 30.4% (401.1 million euros), of which 71.06 million were allocated to "strengthening the operational capacities of the Ministry of the Interior". The remaining 330 million of the increase will be used in the electoral processes scheduled for 2023.

The investment chapter is increased by 62.94%, which includes 189 million euros for projects contemplated in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. 229.6 million euros will be used to implement digital identity and ecological transition policies such as the DNI on mobile phones. 12 million are also contemplated for the Spanish Presidency of the EU that will be held during the second half of 2023.

The Budget of the Ministry of the Interior for 2023 rises above eleven billion euros if the budget corresponding to its three autonomous bodies is added, including Traffic, which increases staff costs by 5.1 million to attend to the expansion of staff of the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard.

The public accounts maintain the Budget in the Department of Infrastructure and Equipment for State Security, contemplating the creation of the University Training Center of the National Police in Ávila which, together with the Center for Prison Studies, "is a firm commitment to the training excellence, the deconcentration of organizations and territorial cohesion", according to the aforementioned Interior sources.
