Inditex opens this week Zara 'megastore' in Battersea (London), similar to the one in Plaza de España (Madrid)

MADRID, 9 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

On Friday, October 14, Inditex will open its Zara 'megastore' in Battersea (London), an establishment similar to the one located in Plaza de España (Madrid), the largest in the world, with more than 7,700 square meters, open since April, shortly after that Marta Ortega assumed the presidency of the group.

Specifically, the new Zara store in London, south of the Thames, has the latest developments in this store model, including concept areas for lingerie, shoes and accessories, Zara Home, an online order silo, Store mode and a complete digital experience.

The CEO of Inditex, Óscar García Maceiras, recently stated that the opening of London is "one of the most ambitious developments in Europe in recent years" and that the group continues to bet on offering the latest technology and the best shopping experience in its stores, so it plans to also add a Zara Home area to the Plaza de España store "in a few weeks".

García Maceiras also highlighted that the group's new openings already have improved customer experiences, such as the new Massimo Dutti in Milan or the recently opened Stradivarius in Paris, which opened last Saturday, or the Zara Home in Pontevedra. "We will continue to develop projects that allow a continuous improvement of the search processes and the purchase processes", he assured.

Likewise, during the presentation of results, García Maceiras referred to the "continuous optimization" of the "customer experience" in "high-quality, fully integrated, digital and sustainable" stores.

In addition, he relied on the long-term opportunities of Inditex, whose model continues to work "at full capacity", with "great potential" for future growth and a planned investment in 2022 of approximately 1,100 million euros, in a context marked by the war in Ukraine and inflationary tensions.

Inditex recorded a net profit of 1,794 million euros during the first half of its fiscal year 2022-2023 (between February 1 and July 31), which represents an increase of 41% compared to the same period of a year before .

For its part, sales, which were positive in all geographical areas, reached 14,845 million euros, 24.5% higher than a year earlier, while sales at constant exchange rates grew by 25%.

In its first fiscal semester, Inditex opened in 24 markets and at the end of the period it had 6,370 stores.
